Kim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Development from the University of Rhode Island in 1977. Beginning her herbal journey in 1996, Kim has completed herbal apprenticeships with Michael Ford, MS, MA, Wyoming, Rhode Island The Essence of Herbalism in the didactic, therapeutic, laboratory, and field work of herbology; Chanchal Cabrera, MSc, MNIMH, AHG at the Centre for Natural Healing in Ashland, Oregon; Foundations in Herbal Medicine with Tieraona Lowdog, MD, AHG; and Gail Ulrich at Blazing Star Herbal School, Ashfield, MA. In addition, she has studied with Rosemary Gladstar, Donald Yance, AHG; Amanda McQuade Crawford, MNIMH, AHG; Christopher Hobbs, L. Ac., AHG, and many other wonderful herbal teachers through the years. She has also studied, via distance learning, at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, at International Herb Symposiums, and at the Blazing Star Herbal School, Ashfield, MA. She has completed 'The Ecstasy of Teaching' Teacher Training Program for Herbalists, with Rosemary Gladstar at Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat and Botanical Sanctuary in E. Barre, Vermont, and The Art and Science of Aromatherapy, Level 1, with Linda Patterson in Narragansett, RI. Kim is mentored by Herbalists Kay Parent, AHG of Earthweaver Herbs in Newport, RI and Margi Flint, AHG of Earthsong Herbals, Marblehead, MA. She is available for lectures and workshops and has taught at conferences, schools and holistic centers throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Vermont. Kim is a general member of the American Herbalists Guild, United Plant Savers, Northeast Herbalists Association, and a founding member of the Ocean State Herbal Association (O-SHA).
